SUMMARY:Urban regeneration of vulnerable neighborhoods
DESCRIPTION:The Think tank (Re)sources will participates in The International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD), which will be held from Sept 18th to 20th in NYC.\nThe ICSD provides a forum for academia, government, civil society, UN agencies, and the private sector to come together to share practical solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is the top academic international conference for discussing sustainable development issues.\n \nOur member Guillaume Josse, Geographer, Urban planner and Urban development specialist at Groupe Huit, will present the abstract of his article "From cities in crisis to sustainable cities, are we fated to fail?" during the session "Urban regeneration of vulnerable neighborhoods".\n \nThis session will take place on September 19th from 2 to 4 p.m (CET, Paris). It proposes to focus on the urban regeneration of vulnerable neighborhoods in cities as a reliable and necessary path towards the territorialization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the fulfillment of the New Urban Agenda of United Nations. The COVID pandemic has dramatically hit vulnerable urban areas, reinforcing their socio-economic and environmental disadvantages with negative consequences in the daily life of their residents and the global sustainability of cities. Because of this, the urban integrated action in these areas (on the base of public regeneration policies) arises as a necessary and urgent step towards the equitable resilience that is at the base of the SDGs. Departing from the observation of this policy challenge, this session is open for contributions that address the regenerative action of vulnerable neighborhoods with the objective of providing an arena for debate to advance knowledge and enhance practice in this relevant policy domain for urban and global sustainability.\nDiscover the agenda and register here: https://ic-sd.org/ \nEnglish version only
