Activities

Mr Ould Abdallah, Mauritania, President of the Center for Strategy and Security in the Sahel Sahara (Centre4s).

Studied Economics and Political Science in Grenoble and Paris, France.

1969-1984 successively as Minister of Trade and Transport, Ambassador to the United States, the Benelux countries and the European Union, then Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

1985 / 1996 United Nations where, after serving as a director at headquarters in New York, he worked in the field as Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) in Burundi in 1993 / 95.

From 1996 to 2002, at the World Bank, where he headed the Global Coalition for Africa, chaired by Robert Mc Namara, Washington DC.

2002 / 2010 return to the United Nations as Special Representative of the SG for West Africa and Somalia 2007 to 2011. In 2015 the Secretary-General appoints him as a member of the Panel of Experts to review the Peacebuilding Policy Framework. In 2019 Chairman of the Panel established by the UN SG to review the United Nations Office for Central Africa (UNOCA).

Ould - Abdallah is a founding member of Transparency International and remains a member of the Advisory Board. He sits on the boards of several private and non-profit organizations.

He has published two books on his UN experience: La Diplomatie Pyromane in 1996, Calmann Levy and Burundi on the Brink (2000), US Institute of Peace and his memoirs: Plutôt mourir que faillir 2017, Ed Descartes et Cie, 2017, translated into Arabic, 2020.
