Activities

Moktar Gaouad is a media man. His journalistic career began in Paris in 1995 at Radio France Internationale, then as the Paris correspondent for La Voix de l'Amérique. In 2001, Moktar joined TV5 Monde to present the news before becoming editor in chief. In 2007, he joined France 24 as editor-in-chief of this all-news channel, which broadcasts in three languages (French, English and Arabic).

In parallel to his career as a journalist, he is involved in journalism training and in the creation of new media in many countries in Africa, the Near and Middle East (from Mali to Egypt, from Mauritius to Jordan, from Mauritania to Yemen). He has also carried out several studies and consultancy missions for international organisations such as the United Nations on "The Press in Conflict Prevention" and "Media and Democratisation in Africa". A football fan, Moktar contributed to the presence and coverage by journalists from African and Arab countries of the 2006 and 2014 World Cups.

In 2009, Moktar Gaouad joined the African Development Bank Group. He was appointed Lead Manager, Communication Advisor to the AfDB President. In this role, he participated in the development of the new communication policy of this institution which was in full growth of its activities and capital.

At the end of 2014, Moktar moved to New York where he continues to work in the media field. Advising companies or businessmen based in the United States, he participates in the launch of television channels (such as AfricaToday TV) or digital platforms (Africa Prime) for audiences or entities interested in the African continent. He also advises private clients based in America and Europe in their communication strategy.

Since February 2022, Moktar Gaouad has moved to Brussels where he continues his consultancy activities in his fields of excellence. He has also just joined (Re)sources where he will be in charge of our think tank's Delegation to the European Institutions.

Moktar Gaouad is a graduate of the Institute of Journalism, IEP and Ethnology in Bordeaux. He also has a degree in Lead Management Development Program from Cranfield University (UK).
